CHL Systems is a custom equipment supplier that provides project management, engineering, design, manufacturing and installation services for a variety of industries including food, pharma and heavy industry to name a few.

An exciting position is currently available in our Engineering Department for a Robotics Engineer. This position will be responsible to collaborate with Project Managers and the Engineering team to develop custom robotically controlled system solutions that satisfy the customer’s needs based on functional requirements and project objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with sales, project managers and supporting engineers to understand system requirements, estimate costs, and aid in proposal development
  • Design and develop custom automated systems with integrated 6-axis, delta and SCARA robots using machine vision
  • Review project drawings, sketches, and design data with Engineering and/or Project Management staff to determine job requirements and follow them through to completion with minimal guidance or supervision
  • Program robotic cells with FANUC, or Staubli propriety software/controllers
  • Ensure the system design meets industry safety standards
  • Serve as a technical leader on projects working independently or with a support team of Engineers, Designers, and Drafters
  • Surface and resolve technical issues during all phases of the project
  • Control labor and material expenditures within limitations of project budget
  • Travel to job-sites for system installations and to perform troubleshooting
  • Specify robots and machine vision systems
  • Run project feasibility studies via prototyping, testing and simulations as required
  • All other duties as required

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Robotics, Robotics Engineering, or related field from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 4 years related experience in a machine control environment
  • Design software experience: SolidWorks preferred, AutoCAD Electrical a plus
  • Robot control experience using FANUC R30iB, Staubli CS9/CS8, or comparable robot controllers
  • Experience with FANUC ROBOGUIDE or similar software
  • Programming experience is a plus: PLC/HMI (AB or Siemens preferred)
  • Strong time management skills with ability to handle multiple projects at one time
  • Well organized, detail oriented and self-motivated
  • Ability to be the lead engineer on a design team from concept development through project implementation
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
  • Proficient in written and oral presentation, writing and presenting technical documents, explaining technical concepts in depth tailored to the expected audience, and assisting in the generation of product/application documentation and literature
