Pharmaceutical Account Manager

Job Summary:

An individual to develop and manage commercial customer relationships primarily in the pharmaceutical industry by developing, tracking and implementing multiple project sale agreements and long-term partnership arrangements with major accounts.  Provides technical support and oversight in developing initial project specifications and proposed engineering solutions to customer specific needs and requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides extensive and regular customer interaction primarily within pharmaceutical industry but may also handle select accounts in other industries.
  • Gains in-depth knowledge of customer plant and operations to provide knowledgeable solutions, products, and services
  • Meets established annual sales revenue targets
  • Evaluates and qualifies new project opportunities at customer sites
  • Provides regular reporting and updates on customer activity and potential project opportunities
  • Schedules and delivers regular sales presentations to potential customers and/or customer department groups
  • Educates potential customers on engineering capabilities and areas of expertise
  • Identifies initial project scopes and prepares initial project specifications, data sheets and application notes with customers
  • Works closely with customers to help identify initial job scope and prepares initial project specifications, data sheets and application notes.
  • Works closely with internal departments in sales activities through the bidding, negotiation and sale closing process for new projects
  • Provides on-site customer follow-up to newly submitted project bids and competed projects
  • Ensures all safety policies are followed at all times
  • All other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • BS or BA in Mechanical, Electrical or associated Engineering disciplines.  Experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Minimum of 5 or more years of related experience in selling technical equipment/solutions to the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong outside technical sales background, preferred.  Solutions-oriented individual with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interact with customers at all levels of an organization; strong customer service and sales skills.  Proven ability to relate to customers, speak in standard industry terminology and build rapport
  • Ability to pursue and develop new accounts through networking, referrals and call scheduling
  • Experienced in reading and understanding engineering drawings and prints
  • Strong self-management skills with ability to handle multiple tasks and changing deadlines
  • A self-motivated, team player who is able and willing to assist co-workers and multiple projects
  • Excellent time management, planning, problem-solving and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment and act with a sense of urgency Strong verbal and written skills.  Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
