Project Manager

An exciting position is currently available in our Engineering Department for a Project Manager with proven experience in a Design/Build environment.  Preference will be given to individuals with experience in our core industries including Food Processing and Industrial Automation.  This position will work as an integral part of our custom equipment engineering team. The individual must have a diverse background that includes a working knowledge of project management processes, mechanical equipment design, control systems/methodologies and other applicable technologies in order to singularly manage the design, implementation and testing of custom electro-mechanical equipment. 

Responsibilities:

  • Work independently on projects from concept to installation.
  • Work closely with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing and Technical Service to understand system requirements and develop detailed cost estimates.  
  • Write comprehensive proposals outlining all project parameters and presenting our solutions in a clear and understandable format.  
  • Execute the projects in a leadership role based on all defined requirements – scope, schedule and budget.
  • Surface and resolve commercial and technical issues during all phases of the project.
  • Ensure all subsystem/feature designs “fit” together.
  • Ensure all equipment and designs meets industry safety standards.
  • Travel to job-sites for initial discussions, system installations and start-ups..
  • Demonstrate Integrity - Adhere to the company’s code of conduct and business ethics standards.
  • Ensure that company standards are met at all times.
  • Be a good communicator, focus on customers, drive for results and think analytically.
  • Reports directly to Engineering Manager with dotted line responsibilities to Account Manager.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering from an accredited university with a minimum of 5 years related experience in an equipment design environment or non-degreed professional with a minimum of 15 years related experience.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Experience in leading projects from inception to conclusion. Responsible for complete definition and maintenance of scope, schedule and budget.
  • Project Management software experience:  MS Project or related software preferred.    
  • Design software experience:  AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks preferred.
  • Proficient in written and oral presentation, in writing and presenting technical documents, in explaining technical concepts with depth tailored to the expected audience, in assisting in the generation of product/application literature.
  • Excellence at oral and written communication up, down and across the organization.
  • Ability to represent the company with end customers and ability to speak for the team technically on a variety of projects and systems.
  • Well organized, detail oriented and self-motivated.
  • Strong time management skills with ability to handle multiple projects at one time.
  • Ability to travel to customer sites.
